ELECTROMEC RACING HISTORY

Well what happened was!
Every time i visit santa pod i try and take someone who has never been before if only to see the look on there face when a fuel car runs ,flame and thunder 1989 was no exception .My new victim being curtis a keen ford man ,well it was all going according to plan when we took a stroll round the pits.It was then we met mark pudduck and his sierra ,we chatted as you do and a couple of beers later it seemed like a good idea to build a similar car to have a go at racing ! well when we discovered mark was only 5 miles from home it was agreed we could pop round and measure up the car.
Out of the blue mark called me to say we would have to be quick as he had to sell the car soon 'spot of grief with his misses it seemed well next thing there i am the new owner of a race car and a trailer made from a caravan ,dexion a wing and a prayer. We dumped the trailer as the scrap man said there needs to be some steel in it to make it 'scrap' and set about checking the car over.
Chris Jonson gave it the once over and pronounced it in need of a lot of work, his actual words were ; It is basically safe but will never be competitive.Well it was competitive enough to drop him to third in the national championship in its first years racing ,sorry Diane.Wehad a lot of fun and met some great people on our learning curve running 11.67 @ 115 all day long this drag racing was easy 11.67 on a 11.67 dial in 406 light no prob we won the super series and 2nd in the national ,dave potter piped us by one round well done great guy with a killer grip
Super Gas
Supergas was calling and having secured a new engine good for 600 horse from tim adams falcon it was time to dump the old c6 in favour of a glide ,if only to ease the strain pushing down the pairing lanes. We tore the car to bits and with a new rear end from main hoop back and shorter 4 link the car was striped bare so now was a good time for a change of colour silver and gun metal grey chassis .We were rewarded with an arrow straight 9.20@149mph well that was where it all went wrong we wanted 9.90 !we raced with lots of stop in the car but coulnt help wondering what it would take to go 8.90.
Three years, 20k and a lot more soul searching and a 8.75@156mph was in the bag having had a lot of things on our plate to sort and a motorhome to finish we are now keen to go racing again.
